How to Apply For Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

The Indian government’s initiative to make affordable housing a reality for different income groups is meeting encouragement from builders and other walks of society. Categorized as PMAY or ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’, the government aims to complete the allotment of structured pucca houses to the eligible individuals by the end of 2022 and at present, it seems that things are pretty much on track.

However, applying for PMAY continues to be a cause for concern for individuals who aren’t sure about their eligibility. This is the reason why we have selected to talk about the application and even eligibility, at length.

Focal Points of the PMAY

It is understandable that you would want to procure the subsidies listed as per the CLSS eligibility scheme, listed as a part of the PMAY scheme. However, not every individual is eligible for the same and you must first get the entitlements out of the way before considering an application, in the first place.

Firstly, you should hail from specific income groups i.e. the Low Income Group, Economic Weaker Section, and even Medium Income Group. Put simply, the annual income of your household should be between Rs. 3 Lakhs and Rs. 18 lakhs for you to be eligible for the PMAY subsidy.

However, the eligibility factors do not end here. The government ensures that you do not already own a house in any state or haven’t been at the receiving end of any other central aid.

Applying for the PMAY Scheme in 2021

If you are confident of fulfilling each of the mentioned eligibility criteria, you must be able to get the application through. However, applying without a proper perspective can be tricky in the first place.

Here are the steps to follow for applying with minimal hassle:

Step 1: Head over to the official PMAY website

Step 2: Once there, select the ‘Citizen Assessment’ option and click on the ‘Benefits’ tab

Step 3: You will then be redirected to the Aadhar existence page where you will have to feed in the details to validate the authenticity

Step 4: The next step involves heading straight to the application page, beneficiary name, contact credentials, income, other personal details, and even the bank account credentials for a detailed background check

Step 5: Once you fill in the details, it comes down to the Captcha, which then needs to be entered. Then you must click on the ‘Save’ tab to send the application ahead

Can you Apply Offline?

Yes, if you aren’t all that tech-savvy, you can always visit a CSC, headed by the state government and purchase a form for Rs. 25. You need to fill out the form in detail and submit it to the concerned authorities.

Things to take note of before applying

Before filling the application form, it is necessary to keep the required documents handy and check the correctness of declarations. Plus, you must make peace with the fact that even if you are eligible, the subsidy might get delayed considerably.

Bottom-Line

Considering the fact that your application gets accepted, you must still head over to the Finserv MARKETS to zero in on the lender of choice, to ensure proper loan disbursement and faster subsidy credit.
